Nestled in the rainforest overlooking the Bohorok River, the Bukit Lawang Ecolodge is the perfect choice for adventurous travellers exploring the lush rainforest of the Gunung Leuser National Park on on a trek to see the orangutan and other wildlife. There are 5,000 orangutans and other wild creatures that inhabit in this dense rainforest.

About the Hotel

Operated by the eco-friendly Bohorok Environmental Education Centre, Bukit Lawang Ecolodge has 38 simple, spacious and comfortable rooms which housed within 6 lodges: Siamang Lodge, Hornbill Lodge, Orangutan Lodge, Thomas Leaf Monkey Lodge, Butterfly Lodge and Rimba Lodge. The rooms' decor are basic but comfortable and are well decorated with rattan & bamboo furniture, local fabric and tiled flooring. Necessary amenities like comfortable beds with mosquito nets, ceiling fan, electric kettle, tea/coffee making facilities are provided in all rooms. The en-suite bathroom comes with a shower, hair dryer and free toiletries.

Bukit Lawang is one of the best orangutan spotting locations in Southeast Asia. You will not be disappointed after make the journey to this area. Here, you will have chance to observe Critically Endangered Sumatran orangutans in their natural habitat, take part in educational tours to learn all about the different trees and plants or trek with elephant into the jungle. By partaking in these activities and staying in this simple eco-lodge, you are also giving back to the local community as the profits going straight back into community development foundation. After a day spent exploring the jungle, you can relax with traditional massages. The restaurant serves delicious local dishes, using the fresh ingredients from the nearby eco farms.
