Situated in the centre of Jaipur amid a maze of narrow lanes and passageways, Dera Mandawa is a calm retreat away from the chaos of Jaipur. It is ideally base from which to visit the City Palace, Jantar Mantar and local markets of Jaipur.
Dera Mandawa was built 125 years ago by Thakur Jait Singhji of Mandawa, Dera Mandawa is now home to his great grandson. Since then, each generation added new wings, rooms and arches in an architectural style prevalent during its time. There are 11 spacious suites at this hotel, all are decorated in rich colours and furnishings which provide an authentic Indian ambiance. The suites have tea/coffee makers, minibars, reading lamps, and hot and cold water facilities. Some rooms are split over two storeys. Although the bathrooms are on the small side, the rooms themselves are full of character.
Jaipur's city center, is within walking distance of Dera Mandawa. You can visit the city palace and the war forts, Nahar Garh and Jai Garh. The sun dial, observatory, and the old market are all just a few kilometres away from the hotel. On-site, there are beautiful courtyards and gardens to relax in, and many of the home cooked traditional style meals are served under the stars in one of the outdoor spaces. You can learn about Rajasthani cuisine at the cooking school, get involved in competitive kite flying from the roof, feed the birds, and meet the cows and turtles in the hotel’s backyard.
