Located around a two hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Beijing city centre, at the base of the Great Wall, on the outskirts of Mutianyu, Hotel Brickyard Retreat Mutianyu is a newly opened eco retreat, which offers guests the chance to take in local village life as well as to explore this section of the Great Wall at leisure.
Originally a tile manufacturing and glazing factory from the 1960s, Hotel Brickyard Retreat Mutianyu was discovered by Jim Spear, an American and his wife Liang Tang in 1986. Hotel Brickyard Retreat Mutianyu has 25 spacious rooms and suites, all feature floor to ceiling windows that reveal lovely views out towards the Great Wall beyond and private terraces give guests an oasis of space to unwind in this exquisite spot. Included within this eco-tourism hotel are 11 private homes nearby with 2 to 5 bedrooms, all of which retain original architectural features from their former lives as farmers' homes.
Surrounded in the peaceful tranquility of persimmon trees, Brickyard Retreat at Mutianyu is a truly idyllic destination and you can totally unwind in this extraordinary destination by enjoying a relaxing massage in the spa, have a relaxing walk in the private garden, taking a yoga class or dipping your toes in the Jacuzzi. At the Spa, there is an outdoor hot tub with views of the Great Wall open year round that can be used free of charge by staying guests.
