Old Harbour Hotel is a sprawling 300-year-old property in a beautiful garden in the historical heart of Fort Kochi, owned at various times by the Dutch, Portuguese and British, has been lovingly restored with special care taken to preserve its original features and reopened as a boutique hotel.
Old Harbour Hotel has 13 spacious rooms and suites, each of them named after the various old streets of Fort Cochin, are plush with high ceilings and either look into a courtyard with a fountain or over the ancient Chinese Fishing nets. The rooms are larger than you would expect and each one is individually designed with chunky teak floors and dark wood furniture. Its decor is simple yet elegant with a mix of antique furniture and pieces of art from the owner’s own collection. All rooms have a minibar, safe and great, comfortable seating arrangements and guests can have televisions on request. Among the rooms, there are garden cottages with open-air showers, a verandah and private pond.
Old Harbour Hotel is located in a prime location, just a stone’s throw from Cochin’s famous Chinese fishing nets and the Ernakulum ferry and the spice market. You can use a hotel bicycle to explore the surrounding areas. For the comfort of guests, there is a relaxing swimming pool, an Ayurvedic spa and a large open-air terrace. Breakfast is either full English breakfast or Indian. As the hotel rests close to the fishing nets, the restaurant served delicious fresh seafood. Only organically grown vegetables are used, while the meats are of the highest quality available. Service can be slow but the staff is obliging and friendly helping to make Old Harbour a lovely relaxed place to stay.
