Shigatse Hotel is located in the south of the Shigatse town, on the Middle Shanghai Road and about 1km to Tashilhunpo Monastery. It is a good base to explore the surrounding scenic spots including the Sakya Temple, Tashilhunpo Monastery and the Qomolangma Natural Protection Area.
Founded in 1985 and redecorated in 1995, the Shigatse Hotel was built in typical Tibetan architecture and inside it was decorated in popular Tibetan tradition with modern equipment. The hotel offers 123 cozy, comfortable guestrooms including deluxe suites, standard rooms and economy rooms, all of which are well furnished with modern amenities such as air conditioning, heating system, flat screen TV, minibar, coffee & tea making facilities electric kettle and large, clean bathroom. The rooms are both Western and Tibetan in style, but the beds in the Tibetan-style rooms are quite hard and might be uncomfortable for those not used to it.
With a good location, near the Tashilhunpo Monastery as well as the bus stations, the Shigatse Hotel is the ideal base from which to explore Shigatse town. Business center, meeting room, fitness center are available on-site. Daily breakfast is served in the hotel dining room. For other meals, the on-site restaurant provides a wide selection of Tibetan, Chinese and Western food.
