Ho Chi Minh City has a surprising number of churches but the Notre-Dame Cathedral is the most iconic one. Being completed in 1880 by French colonists, the Notre Dame Cathedral features European architecture with beautiful Roman and Gothic style which becomes a popular attraction for the tourists as well as locals mostly for some good photography. Being an ancient city experiencing many historical ups and downs, Sai Gon still remains many shreds of evidence of Viet Nam wars. One of that evidence is Cu Chi tunnels. Far from Ho Chi Minh City about 70km to the northwest, the Cu Chi tunnels will take you back in time to know how the soldiers took rescue during the times of war. You will have a chance to see different entrances and hideouts, booby traps which was set to kill the American soldiers, climb an old tank or even crawl through few dozens of meters of the tunnels. The tunnels have many floors with a total length of over 200 km.
Cu Chi tunnels are divided into 2 parts, one is called Ben Duoc and another is Ben Dinh. The Ben Duoc site contains part of the original tunnel system, while the Ben Dinh site, which is closer to Saigon, has been reconstructed with some tunnels has been broadened to accommodate tourists.
If you feel tired as walking too much in Cu Chi tunnels, let’s move on to Suoi Tien tourist area. The Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area is located at the gateway of Northeastern Saigon, which is about 19km from the city center. The massive complex is one of the most famous weekend entertainment venues that attracts thousands of domestic and foreign tourists every year who are looking for a chance to escape from bustling city life. Here, visitors will enjoy charming natural scenery: flowing streams, green forests, iconic fishes ... which are harmoniously combined in a whole green and large space.
At the end of your journey, don’t forget to visit charismatic Ben Thanh Market to collect traditional and modern items as souvenirs for family and friends. This huge market offers everything you possibly want, ranging from fake purses to traditional Vietnamese food. This is the spot! Stopping by the food stalls with local specialties such as fried fish or sipping a glass of soft ice tea is a great experience for tourists.
