For those looking to cruise the enchanting backwaters of Kerala in style, the Oberoi MV Vrinda is the perfect choice. Highlights of the cruise include a trip on a traditional rice boat through the narrower backwaters, visits to the 18th-Century St Mary‘s Church and the 100-year-old Sree Bhagavathy Kshetram Hindu temple, and a sunset cruise on the lake.
Departing from the private jetty on the edge of Lake Vembanad, the MV Vrinda makes its way into the scenic waterways for a day of exploration and returns to the lake every evening. There are two- and three-night itineraries available and you can board on the day of your choice between October and April. During your time on board you‘ll be able to observe the day-to-day life of those who live and farm on the banks of the water – a fascinating insight into life in this beautiful region.
There are just eight luxury cabins on the lower deck, each with a king size bed with a view of the backwaters, TV and DVD player and en suite bathrooms.
Cold showers are available, and the crew can provide you with a bucket of warm water on request.
There is a restaurant which serves international, Indian and Keralan specialities.
The daily breakfast is served on the sun deck.
The upper deck houses a lounge and bar with panoramic views over the palm fringed waterways.
The two and three night luxury MV Vrinda cruise will take guests through the largest backwater stretch: Vembanad Lake, the vibrant waterways of Allepey: "Venice of the East", and include nightly, traditional, cultural performances.
