Myanmar Holidays

Myanmar is not a destination for those who’d rather seek for a fortnight of cocktails and massage by the pool, but if you're sticking to an authentic travel experience, a holiday in Myanmar offers culture, tradition and awe-inspiring scenery in abundance, from the mystical plains of Bagan, to the cultural hub of Mandalay, and the gleaming pagodas of Yangon. To the north, the Shan State’s green mountains and pastoral plateaux are home to farming tribes, with homestays and wilderness trekking to tempt all abilities, and Inle Lake’s crystal clear waters are dotted with stilt-villages and floating gardens.

Far to the south, the virtually deserted islands of the Mergui Archipelago are home to the sea-dwelling Moken tribe, known for extreme free-diving and their instinctive knowledge of the ocean.

Our Expert Guides to Travelling in Myanmar

Burma, now officially known as Myanmar, is a country very much in transition. Centuries ago in the land of Burma, people lived simple agrarian lives and devoted themselves to Buddhism. Today, little has changed in the modern Burmese state of Myanmar. Men still wear traditional longyi and pilgrims trek for miles to visit sacred sites. With its countless pagoda, stupas and statues of Buddha, Myanmar is a relic of the East barely touched by Western influence. Our travel guides are designed to help you make informed choices as you plan your tailor-made holiday to this beautiful country. Although Burma has been open to tourists now for several years, tourism is still very much in its infancy here compared to its more popular neighbours. Visitors to Myanmar are still a novelty to most Burmese people, and warm welcomes and friendly conversations with locals can be enjoyed almost around every corner.
From exploring the Big Four, sailing the Mergui Archipelago to pilgrimage trails up the majestic Mt. Popa or mystical Mrauk U, a trip to Myanmar is anything but ordinary. Myanmar in all the ways will enchant you.

Ideas for Experiencing Myanmar

Known as Myanmar or Burma, this country is still relatively undiscovered territory, having only recently opened up to tourists and backpackers, offering a wealth of new experiences and attractions from little-known historic sites to traditional villages and remarkably friendly people. It is a country packed with beautiful and breathtaking temples and mesmerising scenery. From the remote Northern Shan States to the more recognisable sprawling site of Bagan, board a wooden canoe on Inle Lake and watch the sun set behind the stilted houses and gardens of the Intha people, or visit Bagan for a hot air balloon flight over a sea of ancient temples. Explore the bustling streets of Yangon or sail around the 800 sparsely-populated islands of the Mergui Archipelago. On a tour to Myanmar, all of this and so much more is possible. Myanmar will leave you breathless.
Sunset Cruise On Irrawaddy River

Cruise along the Irrawaddy River by the traditional teak boat. Enjoy magnificent views of the temples of Bagan as the sun begins to go down. Observe local life and wildlife along the shore. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail as the boat sail along the river.
