Visit agra

Because of its former prominence as the capital of India's Mughal Dynasty, Agra set on a bend in the sacred Yamuna River is home to palaces and forts, foremost among them the spectacular Taj Mahal, which has become virtually a national symbol. While Agra today is a bustling industrial city far removed from the days of opulence of the Mughal emperors, it has preserved its monuments well by enacting some of the toughest air-pollution laws in the nation, for example, to protect the fragile white visage of the Taj. Although it lacks the charm of the other great cities of northern India, its exquisite monuments make it an unmissable stop on any first time tour of the country. Along with Delhi and the northwestern desert city of Jodhpur and Jaipur, Agra makes up India's "Golden Triangle," a circuit frequented by travelers for its cultural wealth.

Best Time to Visit Agra

The best time to visit Agra is between November to March as the weather during this time is mostly pleasant and the heat has ebbed. This also happens to be the peak travel season for Agra. But if you are planning to visit between April – October. If you’re visiting Agra in December and January, carry woolen clothes as temperatures can drop to as low as 2 degrees Celsius.

Visiting Agra during monsoon season (August to October) is also a great time to witness the Taj Mahal in its rain-washed splendor. Splash through the local bazaars in a cycle rickshaw and enjoy a cup of tea at a local tea stall. Carry an umbrella or a raincoat and don’t let the rain dampen your spirit of travel.

Any visitors who want to make a trip to Agra during summer months (April to July) should notice of the high temperatures, but the timing is perfect to visit Agra and Taj Mahal as the crowds begin to thin and good deals are available on sales. Carry light cotton clothes, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle and enjoy the sights of Agra at leisure.
