West Sea Barrage and Nampo Port
Visit the West Sea Barrage, a nearly 5-mile (8 kilometer) long system of dams and an engineering feat of which the country is extremely proud. Completed in 1986, the multi-purpose barrage was built to control flooding and generate power, and allows 50,000-ton ships to pass through its three lock chambers and up the increased water level of the Taedong River.
Three mid-7th century Mausoleums in Kangso
The Kangso Three Tombs are mausoleums located in Kangso-guyok, North Korea. They are part of the Complex of Koguryo Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage site, a National Treasure of North Korea. The large tomb is 50 metres long and 8.7 metres high, the middle tomb is 45 metres long and 7.8 metres high and the small one is 40 metres long and 6.75 metres high. Frescoes inside the tombs depict four tutelary deities. The large tomb holds depictions of a blue dragon and a black serpent-tortoise, while a white tiger and a red phoenix are depicted in the middle tomb. The frescoes are particularly colourful and show Koguryo aristocratic life in detail, including dancing, wrestling and hunting. The Kangso Three Tombs were unearthed in 1911 by Japanese archaeologist Imanishi Ryū and were extensively studied.

Ryonggang Hot Water Health Complex is situated on the spa region abundant in mineral matters including bromine ion and radon, which are the richest contents among the spas and mineral waters in Korea. Chonsamri Cooperative Farm
Along the way from Pyongyang to Nampo, stop at the Chonsamri Cooperative Farm, a community of 2,500 people living and working together, with their own shops, schools, theaters and services. Chat with the members of the farm, and hear about their life and work amid the cooperative system, which includes essentially free housing, education and healthcare.
Take a tour of the Nampo Orphanage, a colorful, modern facility where you can spend hours playing with the children and talking with their caretakers about their lives and work with the orphans. The children appear very clean and happy, and are well cared for by their loving, affectionate teachers.
Ryongnam Sea Vessel Repair Shop
An active facility for the repair and maintenance of North Korean fishing boats and commercial ships, the Ryongnam Sea Vessel Repair Shop is an interesting glimpse at North Korea’s shipping industry. Indeed, the Repair Shop is the only North Korean industrial structure that foreigners are allowed to visit.
