Visit phnom penh

Located at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac, and Tonle Sap Rivers, Phnom Penh, the biggest city in Cambodia and also its wealthiest, is the cultural, commercial and political centre of the country and is home to more than one million of Cambodia's population of over 14 million. With one foot still rooted in the past, which you can find in the glimmering temples, markets and buzzing back streets, and another striding boldly into the future, which is pretty much all around you, this thriving, turbulent city brings together Cambodian, Chinese and French influences in a congested, grimy, shiny, vibrant and thrilling mash that somehow seems to work - except when it rains.

The city offers extensive cultural and historical attractions, with a blur of activity from morning until well after sunset, Phnom Penh's streets are dotted with a mix of colonial French buildings and traditional Cambodian architecture; with its legendary nightlife and bustling avenues, Phnom Penh has something for everyone.

Best Time to Visit Phnom Penh

Best time to visit Phnom Penh is during the dry season from November to May when Phnom Penh experiences the least rainfall, and can be split into two sections – the cool season, which runs from November to January, and the hot season, which runs from February to May. Temperatures in the cool season range from around 21 to 32°C, while the hot season sees temperatures soaring to overbearing levels, reaching as high as 40°C – which feels worse because humidity is also high at this time of year.

The most popular (and so the most crowded) time to visit Phnom Penh is in December and January, when temperatures are at their most pleasant and rainfall is at its lowest.
