Taman Negara National Park

Holiday Types

At Asia Senses Travel we’re adventurers at heart. Our journeys are all about discovering new places and cultures while creating unforgettable memories through physical activity and breathtaking scenery.

Visit taman negara national park

Taman Negara is the sprawling green jewel that sits at the heart of the Malay Peninsula. Covering a whopping 4,300 square kilometers, it ranges across primeval rainforest (some of the oldest established woodland in the world, some say) and winding rivers where elephants can be spotted basking on the muddy banks.

Today, Taman Negara is being raised to Malaysia’s ecotourism mecca, and travelers come from far and wide to walk the swinging rope bridges, hike the tree-shrouded trails and seek out the likes of the elusive Malayan tiger, cheeky wild macaques, Indian elephants, galumphing guars – the list goes on!

Things to See and Do in Taman Negara National Park

Wildlife-of-Taman-Negara-National-Park

Wildlife of Taman Negara National Park

Many of the large mammals will remain hidden, but footprints of tigers, gaur and deer are sometimes found along the walking trails and elephants leave evidence of their passage in the form of broken branches in the foliage. You will, however, see monkeys swinging between branches, and the sounds of the insects and birds of the jungle will lull you to sleep at night.

Basing yourself in the resort hotel at the park’s headquarters, you can follow short and easy ground trails into the forest, take some superb boat trips and venture along the 25-metre high canopy walkways.

Best Time to Visit Taman Negara National Park

The best time to visit in terms of weather would be February to September as it is dry season so it will be more comfortable when you explore the activities that Taman Negara has to offer. Even though December to February is the lowest peak season, it’s best to avoid visiting Taman Negara at that time because it’s usually monsoon season. Peak tourist season is usually around May to August so it gets crowded.
