Visit wonsan

A major port city and military base, Wonsan was established in 1880 by the Japanese colonial administration. As it was the subject of a naval blockade and siege, Wonsan suffered extensive damage during the Korean War. Today, however, the city is an important commercial center, home to a number of institutions of higher education, and a holiday resort. While Wonsan is not a popular tourist destination, it is, nonetheless, an interesting look at everyday life in North Korea - free of pretence and arranged spectacle.
