Cycling in the countryside is one of the best ways to embrace and immerse yourself in Yangshuo's scenery. Spring, when the fields are blanketed by yellow flowers, and autumn, when the golden rice paddies wow you, are the best times for cycling.
Moon Hill is a top place to have a bird's view of Yangshuo's countryside. Its natural stone arch attracts master climbers. Legendary American climber Todd Skinner bolted the first route, a 5.13 climb called "Moonwalker" traversing the underside of the arch, in 1992. Now there are 15 routes, eight on the arch wall, two traversing the arch, and four between cliff and arch, with different elevations. Above average climbers will like it there.
Yulong River is extremely beautiful, flowing leisurely past fields, trees, and mountains. Bamboo rafting on the river, or hiking along the river, you will be surrounded by crystal clear water and mountains.
Explore Xingping, a small town on the Li River, famous for its setting amidst karst pinnacles, prehistoric rock formations known throughout China for their beauty. Bicycle through the village and stop at farmhouses to chat with the locals through your guide.
Yangshuo Climbing Festival: It takes place over a weekend (in August/September/October/November), and includes bouldering and other climbing competitions, climbing training, taster climbing opportunities, slack line, and other outdoor activities.
