Kamakhya Temple, situated on the Nilachal parvat in Guwahati. It is one of the 51 Shakti Pithas of India and an important pilgrimage destination especially for Tantric worshippers. Millions of people from all over the subcontinent visit this temple every year during Ambubachi Mela held during the onset of Monsoon in June.
After that, head to
Assam State Museum, established in 1940. This museum is a rich repository of ancient sculptures (stone, wood, metal and terracotta) which includes some exquisite erotic sculptures, tribal crafts, folk art, Natural History, History of Northeast India, World War II etc. It also has a display of ancient manuscripts including some documents written on bark of old trees which are well preserved.

Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Institution, the largest repository of Northeast India’s culture. Built in the 1990s, the artistic excellence of Assam and rest of the north-eastern region is displayed here. It includes a cultural museum, library and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items, besides a children's park. There are eateries, places of worship, emporiums and open-air theatres within the sprawling Kalakshetra premises.
In the afternoon, continue to visit other attractions including Tirupati Balaji Temple and
Nabagraha Temple. The rest of the day is at leisure.
