DAY 01: DARJEELING ARRIVAL
On arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (70.3 km) / Bagdogra Airport (65.3 km) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand (61.9 km), our Asia Senses local tour guide and driver will be awaiting to transfer you to Darjeeling, which is around 72 km away. Located at an average height of 2,042 meters, Darjeeling is a beautiful hill station that is famous for its scenic Himalayan trenches, lush green hills, beautiful serene monasteries, tea plantations.
After an hour and forty minutes, you would be entering the mesmerizing surroundings of Darjeeling. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel, and relax for a while. If time permits, pay a visit to Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Start your day fresh with an early morning trip up Tiger Hill, a small plateau about an hour’s drive from Darjeeling. The hill is around 11 km from the town of Darjeeling, so you need to start by 3:30 AM in the morning so that you reach by 4.15 AM. In winter you can start around 4:15 AM. Being the highest point of Darjeeling (altitude of 8482 feet or 2590 meters), the Tiger Hill offers some of the best sunrise view over the Himalayas.
We then visit the incredible Ghoom Monastery (Yiga Choeling), War Memorial and Batasia Loop. Built in the year 1850, the Ghoom monastery is one of the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Darjeeling. After that, return back your hotel for a hearty breakfast.
On reaching the hotel, have your breakfast and go for your next round of sightseeing. Start with a visit to Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, which is well-known for its exotic flora and fauna. Visit Peace Pagoda, another major tourist attraction of Darjeeling. The place is believed to be a symbol of peace and spirituality. There is a Buddhist temple and monastery located near the Peace pagoda. Done up in traditional Japanese style, they offer a serene ambience to meditate.
With that spirit of mountaineering, you really can’t miss visiting the famous Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday). Enjoy the beautiful views of the tea plantations and snow-capped peaks with a Cable Ride that takes you to the beautiful Rangit Valley from Darjeeling. Explore the true beauty of Darjeeling, which lies in its Tea Estates and pick the best tea for yourself.
Also, visit attractions like Tensing Gumpo Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center (Closed on Sunday) and Natural History Museum (Sunday Closed).

After breakfast, you will be picked up for a 2.5 hour transfer to Gangtok, a mystical hill station in the Himalayas of the North-East India, located in the Eastern Himalayan range at a height of 5500 feet / 1600 meters, at a distance of 96 km from Darjeeling.
A well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site, Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. The place allures tourists from all over the world to explore its untouched beauty. Lakes, gardens, monasteries, Gangtok has something for every tourist. Gangtok experiences pleasant weather all throughout the year, this is why, people throng the place to enjoy some time amid natural beauty all through the year.
On reaching, check-in to the hotel and go for sightseeing at major tourist attractions of Gangtok. Begin with a visit to Drul Chorten Stupa which is one of the most important Stupas in Sikkim. The stupa features intricate architecture which leaves every visitor mesmerized.
Set on a scenic hill above Gangtok, Enchey Monastery is one of the major attractions of Gangtok. It is believed that the monastery belongs to the Nyingma order of Vajrayana Buddhism. The location where the monastery is located is believed to be blessed by Lama Drupthob Karpo, who was an expert in tantric art of Buddhism. The monastery is beautifully decorated and features alluring images of the deities Buddha, Loki Sharia, and Guru Padmasambhava. One can find a number of masks in the monastery which are used during the annual religious dances.
Do visit other attractions like Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom, Research Institute of Tibetology, White Hall and Flower Show. Later, return to the hotel then enjoy the evening at leisure.
After breakfast, we head 40 km towards the very popular Tsomgo Lake which is famous for its scenic and tranquil beauty. The name Tsomgo means “source of water”. Set at an elevation of 3780 m, this glacial lake is considered holy by Sikkimese people. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the lake. The place is a paradise for bird watchers as get to spot a number of Brahmini ducks and migratory birds near the lake. There is a chance to ride a yak.
After that, we continue our journey to Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, which is nestled at an altitude of around 4000 meters, high up in the
hills. A popular pilgrim center, the Baba Mandir is believed to possess wish fulfilling powers.Unlike the other shrines in Sikkim, which are dedicated to some deity or religious concept, Baba Mandir is built in the memory of an Indian army soldier, Major Baba Harbhajan Singh, who lost his life near Nathula Pass. He is said to be protecting the country even after death.
You have an option of visiting Nathula Pass, which is located 20 km from the shrine. Later, head back to Gangtok.
Check out from the hotel in Gangtok. Have some delicious breakfast and then leave for Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (119 km) / Bagdogra Airport (126 km) / Tenzing Norgay Bus Stand (113 km).
