DAWEI (formerly known as Tavoy) is the capital of Tanintharyi division in the south of the Myanmar. In 1826, the British took over this town from Burmese Kingdom. As a result the town has a long lasting history and picturesque buildings from the colonial era.
In the afternoon, hop on a sightseeing tour to see the beautiful sites of Dawei. Visit the iconic buildings which are heritages from the British colonial era. During the tour, we make a stop at a local cashew nut shop which is owned and run by a local family. Here, learn about the process of making cashew nut products. We also learn about traditional Myanmar medicine from a traditional doctor.
Before sunset, enjoy a drive (app 30 minutes) to Maung Magan Beach, a popular beach amongst locals. You can play the sports with locals or seat in a beachside restaurant while enjoying the beautiful view of Andaman sea. After that, we return to Dawei.
Overnight in Dawei
Start our tour with a visit to a local fishing village where the fishing industry is main income source of villagers. The fish is daily catch to produce dry fish and fish fermented paste, one of main ingredient of Southern Myanmar cuisine. Along the way, there will be stops at rice paddies, rubber or cashew nut plantations (seasonal). You guide will explain the steps to make the final products from these raw material.
After that, jump on a 30 minute drive down dirt roads, pass through mangrove forests to a small village. From the village, take a 15 minute walk to Sin Htauk Beach, famed in the region with fine white sands and azure waters. You are free to swim in the sea and relax in the tree’s shade. Enjoy your lunch on the beach with picnic lunch, fresh seasonal fruits and snacks.
NOTE: The itinerary could be changed because of the high tide.
After that, continue the drive down south the Dawei Peninsula to Paradise Beach, one of best beaches in Dawei. As it is located deep in the super-beautiful rural Dawei Peninsula, the car cannot access this remote location. So the hotel’s staff will pick up then transfer us to hotel by motorbike or you can take a 10 minute walk.

Enjoy your last opportunity of swimming at this beautiful beach before heading to the fishing village of Nyaung Byin where we get to know about the daily life of the fishermen. You will be welcomed by curious kids who pour out of their homes anytime they see foreigners.
After some time in this friendly village, continue our drive to Grandfather Beach, isolated gem of white sand, crystal water and totally empty. You will have a couple of hours to swim, relax, or walk along this endless white sand.
We then drive to Kyauk Wap Pyin Village. From here, take a 25 min trek to the Golden Rock Pagoda of Dawei Penisula. At the top, enjoy the paronamic view of Dawei River and Grandfathers Beach.
Have lunch in a traditional, clean restaurant. Following the lunch, we drive back to Dawei, en route make a few stops to break and sightseeing. Visit a local brick factory to learn how locals make the traditional brick. At a roadside farm, you will have chance to taste some of the local liquer/products made there. Upon back to Dawei, check into your hotel and relax.
