Rise early to visit Thiksey Monastery
with its statue of the seated Maitreya Buddha and join the morning prayer ceremony at 6:00 AM. Despite the early start, this is a worthwhile experience. Afterwards, head south to the Hemis Monastery, the oldest monastic institution of Ladakh, built in the 13th century in a remote valley. Return to Leh then have lunch.
This afternoon, stop by Leh's labyrinthian streets and quiant bazaars. Leh is very 'Tibetan' in culture, which is visible in the local dress, montasteries, large chortens, prayer flags and mud brick houses with flat roofs. After, return to your hotel for a night of refreshment and relaxation.OPTIONAL
: There is a chance to join a séance session with the Oracle of Saboo (additional costs apply).
Overnight at the hotel in Leh.
