DAY 01: HOUAY XAY – PAKBENG
Our Asia Senses representative will wait for you at the Laos side border side to provide transport to the pier. Board the Luang Say Cruise (09:30 AM) vessel for the three-day cruise trip to Luang Prabang. After one-hour journeying along the river, the boat stops at a traditional village. Observe rural life along the Mekong and witness the daily life of ethnic minorities and their talented craftsmanship. A buffet lunch will be served on board the boat with a main course from Laos’ main culinary delights as well as a choice of fish and meat dishes.
NOTE: Please do immigration process and cross the border to Laos’ side border before 08:00 AM.
Our cruise will arrive in PAKBENG in the late afternoon, giving plenty of time to refresh and visit the tranquil town. Enjoy the scenery of the river and admire the surrounding nature. Depending on the river's current, the boat may reach Pakbeng in time to catch a beautiful sunset over the Mekong.
After the breakfast at the hotel, our cruise departs for another day of nature discovery along the legendary river with two stops planned along the way. A stop will be made at the village of Ban Baw where you can watch the traditional process of making traditional rice alcohol. Lunch will be served on board. A different choice of fish and meat dishes than on the first day is prepared for a greater culinary experience.
Arrive at Kamu Lodge around 2:30 PM. Check into one of 20 canvas safari tents which are made of natural friendly materials like bamboo and thatched. They will bring you an authentic feel of the traditional Laos. During your stay, you can participate in a variety of activities; visiting Kamu village, archery contest, rice planting and harvesting, traditional fishing and gold panning (January to June).
After the breakfast at the lodge, you are welcome to plough, harvest or mill rice with the villagers. The rest of the morning is free at leisure until check out (11:30 AM). Enjoy the optional activities offered at the lodge.
After lunch served at the Kamu Lodge restaurant where you can enjoy the local flavors of Laos cuisine, jump on the cruise again then depart cruising downstream to LUANG PRABANG. Make a stop at the famous Pak Ou Cave (Tam Thing cave) which is famous for housing over 2,500 Buddha statues of all sizes and for being a place of pilgrimage for locals.
