Join us on fully escorted Southern Myanmar Cycling Challenge tour to the most iconic destinations. Start from Yangon, the capital of British Burma. Explore the quaint heritage buildings, old quarter and most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Yangon. Head to the south to the town of Hpa An, spend days here allowing for ample time to pedal and paddle through it, giving you a genuine feel for the lives of Myanmar’s rural farmers. After that, travel south to Mawlamyine, a city play an important role in southern. Ride far off the tourist trail and revel in the adventure of cycling to Dawei. Finally, take a truly relaxation on one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Dawei peninsula.

Day 01: Yangon Arrival
Upon arrival Yangon International Airport, you will be welcomed by our Asia Senses guide and driver. Then be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Freshen up before venturing out for an evening activity.
In the late afternoon, we will visit the famous Shwedagon Pagoda - Yangon’s most famous landmark. The massive 99 meter high gold plated pagoda with the diamond studded spire set on top of a small hill in downtown Yangon. Its massive bell-shaped golden spires are plated with 60 tons of gold, while the tip of the stupa is inset with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and topaz. Wander through this magnificent structure and its courtyards, stupas, bells, temples, and Buddha images, and see religious and secular visitors from all parts of the globe. Enjoy breathtaking views of the golden stupa from this vantage point.
This morning, we will take a three to four hours transfer from Yangon to Thaton Township. Along the way, we will pass through peaceful countryside, rice paddies and many small villages.
Upon arrival in Thaton, it’s time to unload the bikes and start first ride of our Myanmar cycling tour towards the town of Hpa An. Hpa An is a small city and is the capital of the Karen state. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains, limestone rock formations and cute town markets. We will stop for a short break with lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
After lunch, we continue biking to Hpa An. Just before arrival, we will visit Kawgun Cave, one of the most spectacular caves in Karen state. Kawgun cave is located near Kawgun village, which is only three kilometers distance from Hpa An township. It is a natural limestone cave and measures 60 meters height and 90 meters length. Inside the cave, the rock surfaces is profusely decorated with different kinds of clay Buddha images of various sizes and shapes in ancient styles.
We begin our sightseeing tour by visiting Hpa An morning market which offers a colourful display of fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish and textiles. Morning time is the best time to visit market, an incredibly lively environment where locals sell vegetables, meats and household goods.
Then we take a visit to Shwe Yin Myaw Pagoda which is situated at the eastern bank of Than Lwin River. Then it’s onwards to Eindu village. Stroll around village, talk with locals, visit weaving factory that specialises in making traditional Karen clothes in Eindu village. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, continue our cycling adventures by a exploration to breathtaking Saddan Cave. In the cave, there are dozens of Buddha statues, a couple of pagodas and some newer clay wall carvings. It takes 15-20 minutes to walk through black chambers as high as a cathedral, truck-sized stalactites and, in places, walls of crystal. From the exit, take a short boat trips by local fishermen, pass through paddy fields surrounded by natural landscape.
Then head to Lumbini Garden or Buddha Park with several hundred neatly aligned, seated Buddha images at the base Mt. Zwekabin, the holy mountain of Karen people.
Afterwards, continue to Kyauk Ka Latt Pagoda which is built on layers of natural rock formations. It is surrounded by an artificial lake and distant hills. You also can visit another golden temple with a nice looking Buddha statue before the lake. Enjoy an unforgettable sunset at Kyauk Kalatt Pagoda.
At the end of day, we ride back to hotel for some refreshment before dinner.

Day 04: Hpa An - Mawlamyine
This morning, complete our today’s challenge by cycling from Hpa An to Mawlamyine, is the fourth largest city in Myanmar situated at the mouth of the Thanlwin river, Mottama gulf. Mawlamyine was once a major port and the administrative capital of British Lower Burma. Nowadays, it is the capital of Mon State with a population of more than 1,200,000 people.
Along the way, we will stop to take short rest at Kawhnat - Kadoe Village, near the city of Mawlamyine. This village is home of U Nar Auk, a wealthy man which is now a known Myanmar figure. During British colonial days, he used his wealth to fight against Britain’s powerful Irrawaddy Flotilla Company and to help the country’s poor avoid exploitation by British and Indian businessmen. On arrival village, ride around village, observe the daily activities of locals.
Then, we visit Kawhnat Pagoda Compound which was built beginning in 1885 at the Kadoe and Kawhnat villages by three wealthy teak traders – U Nar Auk, U Htaw Ei, and U Htaw Rite. See ancient arts and crafts for decoration that are on display here. After that, take a visit to Kha Yon Cave which has Buddha statues for people to pray amidst the cave's natural formations. In the cave, there are many Buddha statues. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant on the way.
Upon arrival Mawlamyine, we will take a short visit of this beautiful city. First, we visit the beautiful Seindon Mibaya Kyaung which has some excellent wood-carvings which are over a hundred years old.
Continue to Mahamuni Pagoda, a replica of the Mahamuni Image at Mandalay. Final, we head to Kyaik Than Lan Pagoda, the highest structure in Mawlamyine and stands 150 feet tall on the ridge overlooking the town centre. From the top of the pagoda grounds, an excellent 360 degree panoramic view of the whole of the city can be seen. Enjoy beautiful sunset views over the harbour and across the river.
After that, we continue to our hotel for check in. Free at leisure at the hotel.
Today, we will take a long journey from Mawlamyine to Ye town (about 158 km). Ride through narrow road that snakes through the Southern Plateau. We'll ride through rubber plantations, over wooden bridges and through small villages in rural areas of Myanmar. For those who find the going tough, our support vehicle will be on hand to take the strain.
Before arriving to Ye Town, we will stop to visit Banana Mountain and check out its spectacular Buddhist complex of Ko Yin Lay. Banana Mountain lies around eight kilometers out of Ye town. The pagoda is located on the top of hill, from which four enormous Buddha effigies stared down at the countryside in all directions. Climb the stairs for a panoramic view of the area that’s the perfect backdrop for photos.
Afterwards, we continue our journey to Ye, a small town with a population of only 40,000 is a nice way to break up the bus trip from Mawlamyine and Dawei.

Day 06: Ye - Dawei
After breakfast, we take a visit to riverside morning market of Ye, stroll through this busy market which offers you beautiful sights of local daily activities. After that, hit the road again.
Today, we will take another long ride overland (162 km) from Ye to Dawei, a city in south eastern Myanmar and is the capital of the Tanintharyi State. It has a long history of trade and features some interesting colonial architecture, beautiful mansions and number of beautiful beaches in the vicinity.
Our ride heads along unpaved roads and pass through rubber plantations, hilly terrain with a stunning mountain range which divides the Mon and the Tanintharyi State. Along the way, you will meet friendly villagers who are willing to smile and say hello even to strangers.
In the late afternoon, arrive in Dawei and ride to your hotel for check in. If you want, you could stroll around and explore this beautiful town, observe locals sweep shop terraces and tend villa gardens while municipal workers clean streets and meticulously paint colour-coded curb-side bollards by your own. Have dinner at local restaurant.
Today, we will visit some highlights of Dawei with a short orientation city tour, including the downtown area and all its elegant colonial buildings, followed by a stop by the local market. After that, you will be transferred to Launglon to start the ride today. We then cycle towards Myin Khwar Awe beach which takes us some 3 to 4 hours, on a half paved road.
Myin Khwar Awe Beach (means horse shoe bay) was setting with clean and clear waters along the white sand bay with coconut jungles which could offer you a truly relaxation. Along the way, we will cross through beautiful landscapes, cliffs with stunning views of Dawei River Gulf and the surrounding mountains. We also take some short stops at villages. Enjoy some snacks, drinks and chat with some locals.
There is a chance to visit Kyat Hlut village to mingle with the local people. These friendly villagers based on fishing and growing coconut trees in the surroundings and it's always nice to meet the hosts and children at primary school.
We could also make a visit to spiritual Shin Maw pagoda for those that are interested, to get blessed for future good luck. Enjoy the gorgeous sunset over the Andaman Sea then being transferred back to the hotel. The transfer is some 2 hours.
In the morning, we will start our ride across the Dawei River to soak up into local life. Along the way, we will stop to visit a rubber plantation, which is one of the area’s largest industries. Local farmers will show the traditional methods of making sheets of rubber.
Visit the Myaw Yit Pagoda before heading to Maungmagan beach for a breathtaking sunset over the Andaman Sea while enjoying the freshest seafood and drinking a refreshing cocktail.
In the early evening, you will be transferred by car back to Dawei. The transfer is 30 minutes.

Day 09: Dawei - Yangon
Free at leisure in hotel until our guide come to pick up then transfer you to the airport for the flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival, the guide will pick up and transfer you to the hotel in Yangon’s downtown for check in.
After a short break at your hotel, we will take a soft sightseeing of Yangon by a visit to Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda which is built in 1966 and houses a striking reclining Buddha image that measures an impressive 65 metres long and 16 metres high, Sule Pagoda - known in Burmese as the Kyaik Athok Zedi, is surrounded by busy streets, a market and colonial era buildings.
After that, we walk around and take some photos of Yangon City Hall, Yangon Region Court, and Independence Monument which is located in Maha Bandula Park.
Then we will visit Bogyoke Market (formerly known as Scott Market), where you can find largest selection of Myanmar handicrafts and souvenirs from lacquerware and Shan shoulder bags to puppets and jewellery, slippers, longyi etc. Take a soft trek to Yangon Chinatown & fruit market where you’ll find vendor after vendor of charcoal grills, cooking all sorts of meats, veg and marinades from shop house, barbecue restaurants. Watch the evening life of Yangon.
