Welcome to SUMBA. Upon arrival at the Tambolaka Airport, you will be welcomed by our Asia Senses local representatives. They will provide you with a short transfer (approximately 1.5 hours) to your hotel for check in. Along the way, enjoy the beautiful untouched rolling hills, lush tropical forest, and watch the unique villages with their distinct local architecture.

The rest of day is free at leisure. You can explore the surrounding forest, swim in the crystal sea, or stroll along Nihiwatu beach, one of the most impressive private bays that Sumba have to offer.
Overnight in Sumba.
Following the breakfast at hotel, take a 45-minute drive from your resort through the Wanukaka Valley to a local village, our today’s starting point. From this village, hike down through the national park, to the magnificent blue lagoon at the base of the Matayangu waterfall. You will be lead by a professional local guide in this 90 minute trek. Sheer cliffs 200 to 300 meters high surround the waterfall providing an awe-inspiring backdrop.
This magnificent blue lagoon is a great place to cool off after the walk. You can jump off the rocks and swim, while your guide is preparing the fresh, delicious picnic lunch. In the late afternoon, trek back to the starting point where the driver will be awaiting to transfer you back to the resort.

This morning, take the 90-minute trek to the nearby Nihi Oka Valley. Walk through thick palm tree jungle to explore the local, traditional settlements before descending into a breathtaking valley of cascading rice paddy fields and a coconut grove to arrive at a private coastline where a healthy breakfast awaits.
NOTE: A jeep can be arranged to Nihi Oka valley, instead of trekking tour.
After breakfast, your spa therapist will show you to the private bale overlooking the Indian Ocean and cascading rice paddy fields. Spend the whole day with unlimited spa treatments which range from body wraps and scrubs to 90 minute massages and an organic facial. You will be driven in open air vehicles back to the resort as the sun sets.

Today is free at leisure. You can take more treks to surrounding villages, explore the island on a mountain bike, relax on the beach, visit a local water project, a Malaria-combating health clinic, or volunteer one morning with the school lunch program which are run by the Sumba Foundation.
